Meine Güte,
muss man für diese Bildchen etwa 100MB erzeugen und zeigen?
Nicht jeder schaut das zuhause mit der unbegrenzten Flat an.

Hello from Australia.

My name is Siegfried, and I am looking to purchase an old fields combination machine like the BU8 or BU7, and this has been fantastic information to read.
Wonderful work with the rolling trolley solution.

I do have a question:

- How do you find the functionality of the BU8 machine? Does the Saw and Spindlemolder / Tischfrase tilt? Or are they fixed in the vertical position?

Kindest regards,

Siegfried from Australia

Hello,

i'm very pleased that my former posts were helpful for you.

This machine is basycally a planing machine (?, = Abrichtdickenhobelmaschine) with a lot of
added features, in my opinion this is noticeable while working.

The planer is great! A VERY massive and solid construction.
On my machine is a 3,0 kW engine mounted which was a additional option; standard is 2kW.
But i think the 2kW is also a very powerful engine.

The saw makes not so much fun to work because the
fixed table is slim and the moveable table is not very easy to adjust exactly.

But cutting wood lengthwise works well because of the strong engine.

Another negative point is, thatyou can't turn the saw ->45 degrees.
You also have to remove all parts of the saw when you want the milling unit.
It always takes a few minutes, you can say that is no problem but for me it is annoying.

Addionally switching between the different funcions is not very comfortable because you have
to change the position of the transmission belt.
Between saw and planer it is no big problem, but for the milling it's not soo comfortable.

But otherwise the mill works nice.

The drilling unit is a nice feature and it works also nice, but i don't use it very often.
The table is not very big but ok.

So, what you have to mention generally is that 5 in 1 machines need a lot of space around them.
I do not have this, so i have to build the wagon to move the machine all the time.
This also takes time when you want to switch between the functions.

When you have several machines (planer, saw, mill,...) you can place some of them on a wall
and the space requirement of one machine is no so big.
But in my workshop the space is not enough for several machines so moving the 5 in 1 machine is necessary.

I hope this was helpful for you and my english is understandable..

Edit:
According to your question: the saw and the spindle of the mill are fixed in 90 degrees.

Hello Holz Und Metal,

Thank you very very much for that information. Your English is perfectly good and I understand it all 100%.
Eventhough I have a German name - Siegfried, my German speaking skill is not even 1% of your English speaking skills. Bravo to you!

Oh, that is sad that the saw cannot be tilted 45 degrees, because this is something I was looking for. My father has a BF6-31 which is a much more modern combination saw, but already i can see that the design is not as robust as the older Felder machines.

I am also in a very small shop. I have 5mx5m and a very low ceiling of 2.1m. Currently I have a small Inca Abrichte/Dickenhobel and an Inca cabinet saw. However, the saw is only 1200W, and the construction is 2mm folded sheet metal. So when I perform long rip cuts with a standard 250mm blade with 3mm width on Australian holz that is 60mm thick, the motor sounds very strained. I have a Mafell handkreissage with a 180mm blade, and it can cut more easily through the wood. This is the reason i am looking to upgrade to one of these classic combination machines. The other brand that I have heard of is REX, but they are harder to find information about.

Have you any suggestions of websites in Germany/Austria that are good to search for used machinery from the 1970s-80s?

Kindest regards,

Siegfried
